Mint has been serving Lancaster's finest cocktails for eight years and has always been at the forefront of developing trends. We use only the finest ingredients for all our cocktails and use fresh produce wherever possible. Sugarhouse was proud to receive the Silver Award for our participation in the Best Bar None scheme, organised by the NUS, at the NUS Awards Dinner in July 2016.
This was the twelfth year of the highly successful Best Bar None scheme, which saw over forty students’ union outlets from the length and breadth of the country recognised for their exceptional work in promoting safe alcohol retailing and student safety within the late night industry.

The Courtyard Cafe
The Courtyard Cafe opened in September 2017 at St John's Hospice. Open to the public, serving home made cakes, freshly ground coffee and a fine selection of hot and cold food prepared to order. Much of the fresh fruit and vegetables are grown on site in our vegetable garden. The garden, along with nearly everybody working in the cafe, are volunteers giving their time freely to support the cafe and St John's Hospice.
All proceeds from our scrumptious cakes, home cooked lunches and freshly ground coffee go straight back to St John’s Hospice.
The Hest Bank Inn
A local village pub situated on the canal side, boasting the biggest beer garden in the area. Great food served 12-9 daily, with a daily changing specials board and a great range of fine cask ales, spirits, wine and soft drinks.
The Plough Country Pub & Dining Room
At The Plough, we’re renowned for generously-served, lovingly-made, traditional pub fayre. Our menu is made for refuelling after a walk, a long journey or a long day’s work.
We pride ourselves on using the finest local produce wherever possible, to create honest food from simple, quality ingredients. All our dishes are reasonably priced, too. So bring your friends!
The Three Mariners
The Three Mariners is a Grade II listed building and is widely rumoured to be the oldest pub in Lancaster, dating back to the 15th Century. It has seen much of Lancaster's rich history, from the closure of the Castle Priory by Henry VIII in 1539, to the Jacobite uprisings in the 1700s.
It has also played a part in the city's history, with numerous ties to Lancaster Castle throughout its 600 year occupancy. Built into the side of Castle Hill, prisoners were brought here for a 'last drink' with their families, lead from the castle dungeons through a rumoured hidden passage.
