Nestled in historic downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Ristorante Massimo's world-class Italian cuisine and Upstairs at Massimo's focusing in small plates
We consider Italian food an art form and our goal is to create the ultimate dining experience as if it were a brilliant painting. Ristorante Massimo is a restaurant that offers authentic dishes from all regions of Italy: colorful antipasti; a variety of cheeses; crispy, warm Italian bread, homemade pastas; tender beef, pork, and poultry dishes; succulent seafood; seasonal vegetables; luscious desserts; Italian coffees—all artistically presented by our executive chef and our skilled staff—the truly talented artists behind the dining masterpieces.
Focusing on small plates in appetizers, salads and pasta along with eclectic meat, cheese and condiment choices in chacuterie, the fare Upstairs at Massimo's accompanies the same superb wines and cocktails as served downstairs.
A highlight for the new epicurean area offers guests the option of enjoying a glass or flight of high end wines without buying the whole bottle because of a state of the art wine preservation system in the new lounge. The more extensive cocktail list is designed by a lead bartender who focuses on creating custom cocktails for Upstairs while launching innovations of old favorites.
With specifically selected antipasto options and a variety of daily hand-rolled pastas from the Romagna and Vento regions, the Upstairs menu reflects indigenous preparations with local recipes from Sicily, savory dishes inspired by Umbria and the finest food choices from Tuscany—all in perfect portions designed smaller to allow a better sampling of the way people dine in Italy.
