La gastronomie dans un verre. Fine cocktail bar, inspiré par des recettes de mixologie à la Londonienne.
Set in a parallel universe and entered by way of a portal tucked down a side street somewhere in Geneva’s art district, Le Verre a Monique inhabits a time and space apart from the world outside. Across a 1950s terrazzo floor rises a large central copper bar with columns of vintage crystal glasses. Copper flakes on the baby blue walls glitter in the Art deco lights from an old Paris hotel. Taking a seat on a chaise longue and picking up the blue snake-skinned cocktail menu allows teleportation to further destinations both real and imagined: Breakfast in Bali (a combination of rum, lime, banana and fresh cucumber juice that mimics the taste profile of fresh honeydew melons); Malice in Wonderland (Oolong-tea infused gin with lemon, raspberry jam and liquorice dust from Denmark); or 1920s prohibition-era USA with punches served from vintage teapots. Attention for detail is always rewarded here: gaze upwards at the copper column in the centre of the bar and you’ll find 30 or more different types of gin that aren’t on the menu. And, if you look even closer you may spot a miniature Frank Sinatra giving an impromptu performance to tiny guests on a teacup under the glow of a doll’s house chandelier…
